Supermarket, Hayes

Client: Quality Foods

Location: Hayes, West London

Contract: Design & Build

Existing: Former B&Q Warehouse. Building had been vandalised and squatted.

Further to their short listing of ‘Best National Food Retailer Award at the World Food Awards 2010′, Quality Foods established a further exemplar store in Hayes, West London, specialising in fresh fruit and veg and ethnic foods direct to the public. Located on the site of the old B&Q warehouse, the site was derelict for several years and the victim of vandalism.

All services were brought up to date to meet the current building regulation standards, including a new ceiling system to reduce heating requirements and a new durable Terrazzo floor. The car park was redesigned for over 150 cars, motorbikes and bicycles, ample disabled parking and charge points for electric cars. A major part was the installation of a new 800m ² external canopy to cover the fresh fruit and vegetable sales area.

As well as the 4000m ² internal layout design, YOOP are oversaw the discharge of over 30 planning conditions with planning consultants, new shop signage, secured Building Regulation approval as well as acting as CDM Coordinators.
